In Genesis 6, God is so horrified by the evil in the world that He decides to send a great flood to destroy all the creatures of the earth except Noah, a “Righteous man”, and his family. God instructs him to build an enormous ark to shelter his household and two of every animal in existence so they will be saved. It rains for forty days and nights.
